HOW TO ENTER SPAIN´S BIGGEST AMATEUR ENGLISH STAND UP COMEDY COMPETITION
Time to get off the barstool and up to the mic!
Amateur comedy competitions like Edinburgh Fringe’s So You Think You’re Funny have unearthed some of the world´s top comics including Dylan Moran, Peter Kay Rhona Cameron and Tommy Tiernan.
2012 turned up a real wealth of talent as we knew it would, all of whom are entitled to perform again unless they have become a full time pro comic in the meantime (see below for conditions). They will be richer, stronger, wiser for the experience and ready to take on the next group of hopefuls who will all be vying for
Only amateur comedians can enter and joint submissions are not allowed.
- Entrants to the Competition must be amateurs. Performers must not have been paid to perform regularly before the 1st September 2012 (for the 2013 competition).
- By regular we mean more than once a week
- You may perform in the competition in multiple years as long as your amateur status still applies
- Performers must not have been paid regularly for the gigs performed
- You must be resident in Spain
- All performers must perform 6 - 8 minutes of totally original material. The objective
- the competition shall ultimately be arbitrated by The Giggling Guiri in the event of any problems arising

There will be 3 qualifying heats throughout September leading to a Madrid Final in Teatro Alfil on September 29.

THE GRAND FINALE - THE 1st AMATEUR ENGLISH LANGUAGE 'COMEDY CLASSICO'
The winning sets from each city will join our final Festival Gala bill. Both sets will go head to head in Barcelona front of our guaranteed to be packed 300 seater venue, C.A.T TRADICIONARIUS as part of a certain full house Festival Gala.
In 2014 we plan to reverse, this home advantage and take this 'Comedy Classico' to Teatro Alfil
Each round will be judged by a panel of 3 judges, the official FIC MC will be the final arbitrator on the night
5 judges in the Comedy Classico Final, to include one vote from audience and one from the headline act.
Judging panels throughout, will comprise industry professionals, local Media and some of the Giggling Guiri´s most experienced comedy goers. Each panel will be carefully selected with Heat 2 participants in BCN enjoying the judging of that guru of comedy himself Logan Murray
Throughout the process everyone can rest assured that the judging will be impartial and nothing to quibble with.
QUALIFYING VENUES: we will do our best to accommodate people if they wish to perform in particular venues, but we cannot guarantee this.

*****Closing date for applications is September 1st 2013 but if you have a preference for heats then it will pay to get the names down as early as possible!!
