An institution in Madrid for alternative comedy for the last couple of decades, last summer the Alfil, went through its most dramatic refurbishments yet. It is now an ubercool 200 seater cafe Teatre with tables and chairs. It is home as always to Madrid´s finest Physical theatre company Yllana.
It has always been the theatre with a different attitude to fearless programming and it was the home for the Giggling Guiri since it first introduced professional English language comedy to Madrid in 2004.

MADRID´S FUNNIEST FICER QUALIFICATION VENUES
We are delighted with our 3 venues for the qualification rounds our search for Madrid´s funniest amateur Stand Up 2013 will be spread right across the city with the watchful help of a comedy mad Scouser, Kiwi and an Irishman. (joke there somewhere!) Promises to be a lot of fun

27 hopefuls will battle it out for just 9 places in the Madrid final to take place in Teatro Alfil on Sunday September 29. The qualifiers will have select judging panels comprising reps from comedy industry and local media and business. There will only be one winner to be crowned Madrid's Funniest FICer who will go on to the final to represent the capital in the overall final and a 'comedy Clásico' in Barcelona on October 19. (A final that will take place in Madrid in 2014)

For one night only this September it will play host to the last of our heats to book the final 3 spots in the final of Madrid´s Funniest FICer. Manager and local legend Brendan will be helping to ensure the production is top notch and promises to be a great nights craic!

With all the televised sport available always on a bunch of screens we will have the exclusive use of the downstairs room for a heat we hope will attract the best of Madrid's student population who want to have a crack at being crowned the Funniest amateur comic in Madrid and possibly Spain!
