CLASS OF 2013 POST SHOW - ´STARS OF TOMORROW... THEN!

The Class of 2013 was arguably the most successful to date, an amazing weekend with a wonderful Motley Crue (they always are!!) of people from every professional background all thoroughly enjoyed this unique challenging 3 day course.
The final show on the Sunday night, in a ram packed Las Cuevas Del Sorte was of outstanding quality with an in form Murray and all the gang making one of the best moments of the entire festival.
Anyone non-natives thinking that the course might not be for you because of accessibility this group included English, Dutch, Swiss, Spanish and a certain Canadian whose set she first developed in the workshop and with some tweaking over the next weeks went on to win the BCN's Funniest FICer competition. It didn't stop there she went on to take on the Madrid Champion and supporting the legendary Marcus Brigstocke before finally Stephanie Figueira was crowned 2013´s Funniest FICer
Star of the class!!
We could fill this page 10 times over with testimonials, these are just a few of the thousands of people that have been through this workshop, they are the stars and Logan has a gift to unleash that creativity. We sell this as the best little comedy
workshop in the world, because we believe the intensive format really creates that and makes for so much fun.  The BCN public know now just how good the show is and the atmosphere for the final show is as good and strong as you will find in any top comedy club. Thinking about it?? Just do it!!

SOME OF THE 2012 TESTIMONIAL...

UNSOLICITED TESTIMONIAL FROM 2012 WORKSHOPPER NICOLA THORNTON
Nicola Thornton, a long term and popular resident of Barcelona who has contributed to the Barcelona Metropolitan over the years. She is a personal friend who was intrigued by the personal challenge aspect of this remarkable course and I practically pushed her off the fence as she thought about it. The photo was taken directly after the show with fellow workshopper and FC Barcelona's womens team member Ale Fernandes.
In good spirits!!!
Nicola sent us the following mail of what the experience was like for her....

'Any workshop that starts by telling you to insult something about the stranger sitting next to you for ten minutes would normally horrify me, but I did it with surprising aplomb. So the first thing I learnt on Logan Murray’s comedy workshop is that I’m not the kind, sweet person I thought I was. From then on, having a license to be both dark and sunny was, for want of a less clichéd word, LIBERATING…where else can you be a bitch in a public place and not get avoided/arrested/told to piss off out of there? The rest of the weekend was spent being a complete idiot, something else I realise I quite relish, and, oh yes, learning the clever art of the “afterthought.”

Logan is wonderful, and he didn’t pay me to say that. He reminds you of a heap of well-known comedians all rolled into one, with a very kind and patient soul. While he’s yelling at you to “Now be the Minister of Hats!”, secretly and sneakily he’s helping you morph into a very, very, very funny, spontaneous and comfortable-in-your-own-skin kind of person. Which is what you need to be able to be to have a six-minute “conversation with an audience with only you talking.”

The great thing is, you end up believing that you really can make ‘em laugh because you actually do!! Hours spent locked away doing improv with a notebook, pencil, no alcohol, seven equally delusional people and a crazy spiritual leader make you slightly demented, so by the time you’re on stage, you are raring to go—and the adrenaline carries you through.

I did the workshop because I like to shake up my routine and scare myself once a year. I didn’t expect anything more than to have a bit of a laugh. What I got, however, was a new circle of friends, an outlet for all my hysteria/angst, and a sense of confidence that I didn’t think I’d ever have. I had a “fuck-you” attitude for at least two weeks after, which was nice and refreshing, and a real sense of achievement.

I was hyperventilating on the way to the workshop through sheer nerves…by the end of it, I felt invincible. Can’t recommend enough. Thank you, Mr Murray.'

Logan Murray Workshop and The funniest FICer - Since it's inaugural year in 2012 Spain's now premier National Amateur English language comedy competition, first  appearing as BCN's Funniest FICer and in 2013 expanding to include Madrid's funniest FICer to make a comedy clasico where the BCN champion went 'set to set' against the Madrid Champion to produce the first ever bona fide Spanish National champion.
What have all the winners so far had in common?
They are all ex Workshoppers who learned the  extra craft to refine their performance and produce  finished killer sets they were able to repeat, modify, improve. and at the end of the process perform more than successfully in front of 300 people supporting Rich Hall and Marcus Brigstocke respectively.
Check out the winning sets below...

TIM PARFITT another of the Class of '2012' has since the course had a full documentary crew following him around as he makes his first fledgling steps in the pursuit of comedy stardom. The documentary is called 'STANDING UP' and is focused on Tim´s first year performing culminating in an Edinburgh Fringe performance!!
This published author's wonderfully entertaining blog is providing a real time backdrop as he picks up gigs along his travels that have so far included NEW YORK, MADRID, THE COMEDY STORE in London no less and a host of  regular performances with Barcelona´s own Stand Up Comedy Collective S.U.C.K. who are composed by many ex workshoppers and provide a platform to continue to practice those new found comedy skills post workshop.
S.U.C.K have a Best of Season show as a fixture on the FIC programme, for details click here

Anyway it is a compelling read of the highs and lows of an amateur Stand Up in the making and you can subscribe on Tim's page, this link is for the latest the 12th post so worth going back to get the direct post workshop action!
